Last year after I had taken some photos of a friend at a park here in Sebastian, FL, I received this text from her:

“Hey girl, I had my photos printed at [local drugstore] and just picked them up. I look like I was kissing a Smurf!”

Of course I had no idea what she was talking about so I told her to send me a photo. Her lips in her printed pictures were literally dark navy blue.

This is a common problem for clients when they take their digital copies of photos done by a professional and have them printed locally, or from a non-professional printing company. Keep reading for the top 5 reasons why you should be buying your photo prints from your boudoir photographer.

1: YOU PROBABLY WON’T PRINT YOUR PHOTOS IF WE DON’T FOR YOU

Let’s get real here for a second. How many photos from your phone/computer have you printed in the last year? Be real with yourself! I’ll wait…

Yea that’s what I thought! I told myself I’d print my wedding photos too and in 7 years I’ve looked at them on the computer once, and printed zero. BUT I do have a huge canvas print of my favorite picture hung in my house that was a gift.

Someone else took the time to upload my picture, find a website that sold the product they wanted, fight with the crop tool to get the photo to look just right, paid the shipping, and had it sent to my house for me.

I didn’t have to do anything besides hang it on the wall, and because of that canvas, I am reminded of how in love I felt at my wedding every single day. Which brings me to my next point.

2: WE WANT YOU TO SEE YOUR GORGEOUS PHOTOS ON A DAILY BASIS

It’s hard to deny that we live in a digital world. When you post a photo on social media or email one to your family and friends, everyone “ooh’s and aww’s” initially, and then

your shared photo becomes a fading memory, buried under viral videos, pictures of a friend’s new baby, and posts of political rants.

But when your photos are in print and displayed around your home, every single time you walk by them, YOU are reminded of the feelings you had the moment they were taken. As a boudoir photographer, the experience I create is geared towards you, not your hubby or your friends. It’s a private session where YOU take a time out, and find yourself as a woman. I want you to remember it!!! Seeing the photos on a regular basis is the best way to do that.

3: PRODUCTS OF HIGH QUALITY ARE TYPICALLY UNAVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Professional photographers are required to provide business tax ID information when choosing elite printing companies in order to use their services and sometimes even pay membership fees to sell their products. You will never be able to achieve the same quality/products as what a boutique photography business offers by printing on your own.

Some of the more elite printing companies even offer coating for canvases and albums that guarantees them for 100 years.

Does snapfish or walgreens do that for you ?? Yes, you will pay hundreds and sometime thousands of dollars for a luxury album by purchasing it from your boudoir photographer,

but when you are 90 and want to show your grandkids that grandma had it going on, your album will still be in the condition it was 60 years ago!

4: DIGITAL MEDIA IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING AND BECOMES OBSOLETE- PRINTS ARE FOREVER

My senior pics from 13 years ago are stored on a CD. My computer doesn’t have a CD drive and all of my photos were given to family and friends. Enough said.

If you pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for your photos, don’t you want to be able to see them forever??

5: HELLO PRIVACY

Professional printing companies are under strict privacy rules, especially when dealing with content such as boudoir. Your prints are created in the lab, packaged and shipped directly to your photographer and then given to you.

Wouldn’t it feel a little bit strange walking into your local drugstore to pick up your sexy photos??
