I am a boudoir photographer and as you can guess, 99% of my clients are women. Along with coaching my clients in order to capture the most gorgeous photos of them that they've ever seen,
I'm subject to a) a lot of emotional background stories and b) client self scrutiny.
Literally every single woman comes to the studio with a complaint about herself. "I need to lose 10 pounds." "I hate my short legs." "My nose is too big." "My hair is too frizzy." And this is only what they verbally express.
I know there's a whole laundry list of other issues my clients have that make them feel imperfect. The reason I know it is because I have them too.
But instead of focusing on the things we don't like about ourselves,
why don't we pump ourselves up and do things that make us feel GOOD
in this sexy body we've been given to utilize for the next ...eh... 70 years or so?
I'd like to share with you today my top 5 (almost free) tips for instantly boosting that self esteem that maybe you've let sink down to the floor.
TURN ON YOUR FAVORITE UP BEAT MUSIC
Ahh. Music therapy. There's nothing better than driving down the road on a warm sunny day, the wind blowing through your hair and your favorite song in your ears. When you're feeling down, an upbeat song can bring back memories of a good time you had and instantly boost your mood.
GO FOR A RUN (OR DO YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE) FOR 15 MINUTES
For me, running gives me the ultimate excuse to clear my head. In fact, I'll start with step 1 mentioned above and blast my favorite music before I start my jog. When I'm feeling down, a brisk run, breathing deeply, and thinking about all the current happenings in my life rejuvenates me and recharges my batteries if you will. If you're not into that or physically can't run, go for a swim, a brisk walk, or jump rope. Just do something to get your heart beat up and your mood will follow.
GET A SPRAY TAN (but not before your boudoir session!)
We all know that when summer time comes around, bringing out those pasty white legs in public might make you feel like casper the ghost. Your confidence and body language will be affected by this insecurity and you won't feel good about yourself. But- take a trip to the local Mystic Tan and you'll walk out of there with your head held high and a renewed sense of "sexiness." (PS- did you know there's one in Sebastian, Florida now? Over at LUXE on 512. Tell them I sent you!)
PAINT YOUR FINGER/TOE NAILS
There's nothing like the feeling of a good ol' fashioned mani/pedi. I mean seriously girl, look at your fingers/toes. Is it time? Go. Go now and thank me later.
TAKE 30 MINUTES AND DO YOUR HAIR/MAKEUP
Ugh this one is hard for me. Like probably the hardest one. Because I'm a mom and every moment I spend on myself, I'm thinking about all the other things I should be doing. But you know what? Self love isn't selfish.
And DAMN- folding that laundry is so much more enjoyable when I look good doing it and can check myself out walking past my mirror to put it away:)

Because you'll go from frumpy to goddess in 0.986554848 seconds and it wont cost you a dime.
